HELLO!

ONE GARAGE

ONE COMMUNITY

Formed in 2014, Furious Hours members Mike Holland and Gerry LaFemina teamed up with Bill Poorbaugh and Aaron Hoel, creating a project where as punk musicians they could hang their hats. After a debut album New York Girl, a resurgence of punk hit the struggling towns of Appalachia. Soon, a couple of shows turned into an outright community. With a new line-up (Robin Summerfield, Greg Wood, Greg Kerr) each member brings their own experiences and sounds to the mix, but the mission is always the same: continue the legacy of punk rock from the NYHC days, and inspire the next generation to not only listen but participate. Splitting shows from benefit concerts for their communities and music festivals to sharing the stage with household names like The Undead, Cryptkeeper Five, and Regan Youth, The Downstrokes love playing in a wide range of environments for a wide range of audience--proving much like home, punk is wherever you make it.

August 01, 2018 / Production: Aaron Hoel / Mastered: Josh Mancell / Gerry LaFemina (Vocals / Guitar), Mike Holland (Lead Guitar), Aaron Hoel (Bass), Bill Poorbaugh (Drums).

Featuring Gerry LaFemina (Vocals / Guitar),  Mike Holland (Lead Guitar), Aaron Hoel (Bass), and Bill Poorbaugh (Drums), New York Girl was independently released August 1, 2018. Produced by bassist Aaron Hoel and mastered by Josh Mancell, New York Girl marries the grit of aggressive influencers The Adolescents with the finesse of British Punk shakers the UK Subs. With lyrics written by former Expletive Deleted frontman and poet Gerry, each song plays between sharp edges of dee cut angst and dark humor in messed up situations. New York Girl calls across generations, touching themes of abandonment, misguided romance, and a neverending coming of age. With gut wrenching openings (Leather Jacket), catchy earworms (Punk Rock Lolita), and idealistic calls to action (Superhero), New York Girl serves as a reminder that no matter when or where, it’s always time to get down with The Downstrokes.
